Both models lack significant cruising range, especially compared to the Air and Tesla Model S. It seems the e-tron GT offers few reasons to choose it over its competitors – but that’s not the whole story.
The 2024 e-tron GT lineup sees minimal changes, mostly feature enhancements. All trims now include more advanced speed-sensitive power steering, while the Prestige trim gets upgraded to HD matrix-LED headlights with Audi Laser light. Our main complaints about the EQS are its uninspiring driving dynamics and its mushy, disconnected brake pedal feel. If you prioritize a smooth, quiet ride, the EQS delivers. However, its competitors—such as the BMW i7 and the Lucid Air—offer similar elegance and better driving performance, making the EQS a tougher choice.
2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV
The new Mercedes EQS SUV arrived in America last year. It’s a spacious electric SUV with two or three rows, offering up to seven seats. It comes as a 355 hp 450 model in either RWD or AWD, and a 536-horsepower 580 model in AWD only. Built on the same Modular Electric Architecture as the EQS Sedan, it prioritizes luxury and is among the first in its segment. Apart from the BMW iX7, there are no other large European three-row premium rivals to the EQS SUV, but the Tesla Model X and the off-road-focused Rivian R1S are notable electric three-row alternatives. There’s ample room for customization, with the three models available in three sub-trim levels – Premium, Exclusive, and Pinnacle – each more opulent than the other best luxury electric cars 2024.
2024 Genesis Electrified G80

Its leather-clad cabin is an exceptionally pleasant place to be, and from behind the wheel, the Electrified G80 delivers both swift acceleration and balanced handling. The only noticeable difference—besides the absence of a combustion engine—is slightly less interior space compared to the G80. This adjustment was necessary to accommodate the Electrifier’s battery pack.
2024 Tesla Model S
While company’s focus has shifted to new, attention grabbing offerings like the Cybertruck, the 2024 Model S remains the flagship luxury for the brand. It ranks among the top electric cars with an estimated range of 405 miles. It delivers superb performance and agile handling. Despite encroaching rivals like the Lucid Air boasting more range and upscale interiors, Tesla’s reputation and extensive Supercharger network maintain its edge. Although the iX’s exterior design is polarizing, its stylish and connected interior, strong performance, and refined road manners make it fitting for its upscale price range.
2024 Jaguar I-Pace
Jaguar maintains its traditional British elegance in updating its lineup. Leading the charge into electric vehicles, the I-Pace debuted in late 2018, preceding competitors like the Audi Q8 e-tron. Despite minimal changes for its fifth model year in 2024, newer rivals boast advancements in range, charging speed, technology, and performance. The Eletre is massive compared to the tiny Elise, and its hefty battery pack means it’s significantly heavier.
Yet, electric SUVs are all the rage now, and Lotus has joined this trend. Performance hasn’t been sacrificed, as the 905-horsepower top-tier Eletre R can reach 62 mph in under three seconds. It also looks ready to take on the Lamborghini Urus, not to mention Tesla.
2024 Lexus RZ
Lexus has easily sold thousands of luxury crossovers in the USA over the past couple of decades, though they’ve only offered gas or hybrid models. The Lexus RZ is the brand’s first fully battery-electric crossover, aiming to deliver the classic Lexus driving experience with zero emissions. Lexus views the RZ’s competition as including everything from the Tesla Model Y to the higher-priced Audi e-tron, but the RZ offers only one powertrain option. With 308 horsepower, it performs admirably, and its platform, shared with the Toyota bZ4X, is designed for a smooth, refined ride. The RZ also boasts a well-equipped interior and an optional Steer by Wire system that will be available later.
We appreciate many aspects of the RZ, but it disappointed with a maximum range of just 220 miles and a high starting price last year. Despite its strengths, these two factors limited its widespread appeal. However, things have changed. The company has launched a new FWD model with a range of 266 miles and a starting price that’s $5000 lower.
